The Hamilton Vein Clinic is primarily dedicated to comprehensive vein care for patients suffering from varicose and spider veins. The clinic was established by Dr. Ned Gagic, a renowned and accomplished General Surgeon who has served the Hamilton community for over 35 years.

Our facility is located in the Wentworth Limeridge Medical Centre and provides patients with the latest in technological equipment and standards. We comply with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Standards and Regulations with accountability. The clinic continues to demand excellence from our staff to provide the best patient outcomes. The Hamilton Vein Clinic offers both traditional and advanced vein treatments to eliminate varicose veins which includes EndoVenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) which obliterates the saphenous veins.

Many people have varicose veins, some are enlarged and twisted and do not move blood as effectively as they should and can cause pain. There are also people who simply wish to have better looking legs for cosmetic reasons. We know varicose veins are a result of the blood moving in one way valves from the heart. When the blood flows backwards it can settle into the vein and cause the veins to get bigger. Pressure on these veins occurs during walking and standing. Sometimes the veins are bulging and bluish cords beneath the surface of your skin. Spider veins are similar to varicose veins but they are smaller and closer to the surface of the skin.

There are three main venous systems in the legs:

  • A deep system, which carries about 90% of the blood back to the heart
  • A superficial system, which carries about 10% of the blood back to the heart; and
  • A third system – perforator veins – which carries blood from the superficial to the deep system.

Varicose and spider veins occur solely in the superficial system, when the vein wall loses its elasticity and the pumping valves stop functioning properly. This causes the blood to flow back downwards, thus creating a reverse process called reflux, which can be heard and viewed with the Doppler ultrasound.

WE invite you to visit our clinic for a consultation and meet our knowledgeable, pleasant and competent staff.
